Working closely with clients who address skill gaps

Skills shortages on a whole are at an all-time high within in the general insurance industry and It is incredibly important that employers which we work with are adaptable to change their job vacancy requirements when attracting the right candidates for their vacancies.

New research from City and Guilds suggests that nine out of ten UK employers struggle to recruit and two-thirds predict that skills shortages will stay the same or get worse in the next three to five years.

Just this morning I updated with one of my clients as we have not had much success attracting candidates with specific account handling skills within the Home & Motor arena for their active HNW private client vacancy. It was clear from our research and candidate attraction to our vacancy, that we needed to think outside the box and change the skills requirements to help attract more candidates to the position.

It was incredibly refreshing to hear that my client’s most important requirement was to find an individual who has exemplary customer service skills and that they would train and address the skills gap by considering candidates from other general insurance classes, across both commercial and personal lines. This has prompted me to write a blog and reach out to both commercial and personal lines candidates to discuss this great career move working for an employer, who think outside the box, and are addressing the skills gap within the market. This particular client are incredibly well-respected and a multi-award winning firm whose key focus’s to is to develop and nurture candidates experience.  For further details on this role please contact me or Gary directly for further information, my direct line is 01483 668 701.
